detroit threads recordings is a loose family of artists housed under mikal smith’s roof. our family delights in invention, respects tradition and has a deep love for the experimental. our ethos is hypnotism, telepathy, and mathematics working as one. we work together to express ourselves so that the way we live may not be lost. the focus of our latest e.p. is the detroit techno militia. the militia was formed to keep detroit’s edge sharp and its’ sound underground. we hope to display their brand of relentless technique that has built for them a loyal following. we are proud to have the militia on our side.

after two very well received initial releases by federleicht, it is time to create a path for other enlightening artists and projects: for our third release we proudly present oculus, one of icelands most promising producers, and leib & seele.

wavetest are a new collective from zurich, 4 young guys in their early 20s which have their roots in disco and house. two of them have already released a single on chicagos mathematics label under their late invitation project name. they are also a great live-act with bass, keys and drum machines and their dj kejeblos is one of the most promising hopes of zurichs new generation. he is a resident at zukunft and was discovered and supporte by our buddie lexx.
we are totally into their groove as we really like their open-minded approach and we honestly believe in them. their tunes impress by a really forward thinking attitude and can be played at any time during the night. this is a perfectsummertime single and we just had so much fun playing the tracks out. because to us this is exactly what we call b-boy house.

escape from new york >singles collection< contains the groups full discography. the group comprising of british record producers john falleti, mike whitford, nigel swanston & tim cox (who also recorded as airstrip-one) penned these two gems in the early 80s at a time when italo disco & new wave were the flavour of the day. >fire in my heart< needs little introduction, an incredible slow-mo balearic masterpiece with rapturous vocals. now worth a pretty penny this originally was released on uk rollerball records in 1984.

shadow sync are back with two new bomb tracks with a fresh techno touch for their fifth release on krd. the imploded beats of theia hit the dance-floor like a meteor shower, accents in reverse weave the rhythm supported by background reverberations. a grooving tr-909 complete all. jitter is a tribal repetitive trip that arises from a genetically modified marimba (courtesy of our beloved 8-bit mirage). reversed hi-hats, hypnotizing delays, bit-reduced accents infect the main synth line making it sick: disorientation guaranteed!

its always good to grow slowly and lasting. a sagacity that patrick specke, our very good friend from düsseldorf, internalized. in three years he only released three mesmerizing and breathtaking eps on labels like kahlwild and desolat. now he enters the floor with some smiling excursions of deepness on hello?repeat. we are very happy to have you on board mister specke!!!

first issue comes from koljah. on his last ep on vidab, 3 months ago, he proved himself to be a big lover of the deeper sides of house. now its up to him to show his passion for epic, soundtrackinfected stuff like on the a side, >simple things< and his dark and reduced alter ego on the flip with >it makes me think<. have fun with this!

back again we have the mediterranean flavor of the friends affkt and alberto sola. always experimenting with different ingredients like the cooker ferran adria, the guys who laid the first stone of the legendary label barraca, now present a hybrid of pop and house which will leave no one indifferent. ‘pobla loves you’ was born with the tuba of alberto cuartero, orchestra director of hoya gonzalo in albacete. marc and alberto (affkt and sola) wanted to have a typical instrument of a band and merged it with the electronic dance scene, always being faithful to his maxim of making music to dance as well as to listen. if we surround valencia, road to pobla de farnals, we passed through la canada. there are los updates, who upon hearing the organic rhythm of pobla and the work with the wind instruments, set to work with the voices. perfectly adapted to the capital of the turia river, jorge and loreto propose a valencian poem that their children have learned at school. the moon of valencia then join our dinner for four. finally, we add to our paella a bit of percussion and keyboards made in affkt, to get a main course and obtain a typical valencian plate but by adding a little chilean salt becomes international. more oriented to the dance floor, there are three rather different remixes. new union between spain and chile, with danny fiddo and felipe venegas. this couple present an elegant and deep remix with drums and vocals perfectly adapted to the current sound. moreover, the french man darlyn vlys re-interpreted >pobla loves you< with a lot of groove and percussion added. finally, affkt gives his funker version of events to complete a job that will come out by the german label international freakshow

james kumo grew up in kent but moved to london and later manchester. in february of 2008, his first ep got released on amsterdams ann aimee records, a delsin sublabel. 2009 saw one more release on ann aimee and a record for dan curtins metamorphic label. now curle is proud to announce james kumos next ep, featuring two original tracks and a remix by our compatriot and man of the moment, peter van hoesen.

reference (planet e / echospace / beretta) consists of the detroit-based artists luke hess & brian kage. in the first reference vs project we squeezed some of the party out of seth troxler and some of the percussion expertise from ryan crosson to create the still sought after tracks >the fade< and >the bumps<. in the second installment of our reference vs series we wanted to get a bit more soulful, & deep with the music, and highlight two of the worlds finest dub techno artists - stephen hitchell (cv313) and marko furstenburg (surphase). stephen hitchell aka cv313 is first a sound engineer. his experiments with synthesis create a warm, ethereal, and organic analog sound all his own. in the reference vs projects we seek to extract the natural strengths of the artist. when we received the files from stephen we knew we were packing heat! we structured our zone around the life-like chord structure that cv313 so effortlessly creates and gave it some more dance floor flavor. we believe the track titled >the wake< will fill dance-floors over the summer months on the beach as well as in the clubs. what can we say. markos shuffled dub stab style has been in demand since the artist started releasing on thinner back in 2002. mr. fürstenbergs deep and emotional music is an extension of his character. we were happy to receive what we expected from marko, super percussive, cavernous, and soulful soundscapes. again we referenced the package out with some drones, new analog rhythms, and eureka. the zone continues relentlessly in >the swell< to carry the dancer through the night into another summer day in the sun
